FC Alton (FCA) began life when brothers, Lee and Neil Pink decided to form a team in the summer of 2006. The club played under the name FC Alton and consisted of several free agents who sought a fresh challenge in their footballing careers. The club entered the Aldershot and District Sunday League and were placed in the Third Division (N.B The league originally had five leagues but this was extended to six for the 2006/2007 where the First Division was renamed the Premiership).
Their first match was a 3 - 1 win against Cody FC. The team of fresh faces and new ideas went a goal down but came storming back with three goals in the second half. It was the first win of many as FCA narrowly missed out on becoming league champions by two points. York Road went through the season unbeaten and the head to head games in both the league and cup became legend and started a rivalry that exists today.
FC Alton gained promotion to the ADSFL Division Three, which with the expansion of the Premiership became Division Two.
2006/2007
FC Alton had a fantastic debut season by earning promotion to Division Two. They finished second to York Road who despite not beating FCA in the league fixtures, didn't lose a game all season. Losses to Traco and Crookham Rovers and not taking the full points in the games against York Road ultimately cost FCA top spot.
The 1-1 draw home and away against York Road were particularly hard to take as FCA dominated both games.
2007/2008
This season has seen a change in attitude and mentaility as extra funding from the Srixon and Cold Control investments brought a positive return on the field. At the time of writing, FCA are in second place and pushing for promotion. If they fail in their bid to make it to the second tier of Sunday football, they have a better infrastructure to make it happen next year.
League Cup
Despite strong showings in the league for both seaosn, the league cup has been a massive dissapointment. They crashed out to York Road after extra time in the First Round in 2006 and were beaten on Penalties by Outback in the First Round in 2007.
Sponsorship
In the Summer of 2007, FC Alton announced a sponsorhsip deal with Golf Congolmerate Srixon. The golfing giant became the club's primary sponsor and agreed to supply the team with training jackets.
Cold Control, who do a wonderful job supporting sport in the local community, continued their partnership by sponsoring the away jersey for the 2007/2008 season.
